Foot pain is extremely common and can be the result of injury or abnormal biomechanics of localized muscles, bones, joints and ligaments. Typical causes may relate to Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation), Heel Spurs (calcifications), Bunion (big toe deformity), and Ankle Sprains (ligament). We have a separate section that deals with Achilles Tendon Pain.
Naturally there are many associations to foot pain and injury, whether it be from sports, overuse activities or a biomechanical abnormality.
A proper assessment by a physiotherapist is recommended. Physicentrix can also help you determine if any dietary, lifestyle, training issue or otherwise may be additional factors to consider in managing your rehabilitation.
A calcification caused by chronic plantar fasciitis or scarring is known as a heel spur.
When plantar fasciitis progresses and healing is delayed or not managed properly bone will replace the soft tissue of the foot and will lead to the formation of heel spurs. Symptoms will be very similar to Plantar Fasciitis. When you touch your heel you may feel a tender Bony Lump. Without proper management pain and severity of the injury will progress.
