Foot pain is extremely common and can be the result of injury or abnormal biomechanics of localized muscles, bones, joints and ligaments. Typical causes may relate to Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation), Heel Spurs (calcifications), Bunion (big toe deformity), and Ankle Sprains (ligament). We have a separate section that deals with Achilles Tendon Pain.
Naturally there are many associations to foot pain and injury, whether it be from sports, overuse activities or a biomechanical abnormality.
A proper assessment by a physiotherapist is recommended. Physicentrix can also help you determine if any dietary, lifestyle, training issue or otherwise may be additional factors to consider in managing your rehabilitation.
Pain in the Achilles tendon region of the foot is generally due to inflammation (Tendinitis) or tears (Tendinosis). In more serious cases tendon rupture may occur. Typical causes may relate to over-use or over-training, muscle imbalances, poor footwear (high heels or non-supportive) or foot biomechanics (flat feet, high arches).
Commonly this condition is associated with overuse due to sports or daily activity that wears out the Achilles tendon.
