Foot pain is extremely common and can be the result of injury or abnormal biomechanics of localized muscles, bones, joints and ligaments. Typical causes may relate to Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation), Heel Spurs (calcifications), Bunion (big toe deformity), and Ankle Sprains (ligament). We have a separate section that deals with Achilles Tendon Pain.
Naturally there are many associations to foot pain and injury, whether it be from sports, overuse activities or a biomechanical abnormality.
A proper assessment by a physiotherapist is recommended. Physicentrix can also help you determine if any dietary, lifestyle, training issue or otherwise may be additional factors to consider in managing your rehabilitation.
An ankle sprain is an injury to one or more ligaments in the ankle. Different severities exist based on the nature of the injury (stretched ligament, partial tear or complete tear). Most injuries occur based on a sudden movement or force that displaces the ankle joint beyond the normal range of motion.
Symptoms may include pain, soreness, swelling, bruising, joint stiffness and difficulty walking. Physiotherapy can help avoid complications due to delayed treatment, such as long term ankle instability, an undiagnosed bone fracture, or healing complications.
